Day 4: Bariloche

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure for an excursion to the Circuito Chico.

The trip begins in Bariloche along Bustillo Avenue, skirting Lake Nahuel Huapi. At the 8 km mark is Playa Bonita, from where you can see Huemul Island. Ten kilometers further on, after passing through various landscapes, you’ll reach the base of Cerro Campanario. (Includes the ascent)

A chairlift departs from the base, taking visitors up to 1,500 meters above sea level. At the summit, there is a café, and above it is a terrace offering one of the most comprehensive and beautiful views of the entire surrounding area: Lakes Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno; El Trébol Lagoon; the Llao Llao and San Pedro peninsulas; Victoria Island; Mounts Otto, López, Goye, and Catedral, and the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.

Continuing on the route, you enter the town of Llao Llao, home to the San Eduardo Chapel—a jewel of regional architecture—and the magnificent Llao Llao Hotel, a true symbol of the area and the work of the great architect Alejandro Bustillo, which was inaugurated in 1939. Overlooking the lake is the important and picturesque Puerto Pañuelo.

After skirting Lago Escondido, the road crosses the bridge over Angostura Creek, where Lake Moreno meets Lake Nahuel Huapi. Passing through Bahía López, at the foot of the hill of the same name, we arrive at the viewpoint at km 40, at an elevation of 945 meters above sea level, where you can appreciate the majestic landscape formed by Lake Moreno and the Llao Llao Peninsula. Traveling along the shore of Lake Moreno, you’ll reach the bridge that crosses the lake, then follow the shore of El Trébol Lagoon until, at km 45, you rejoin the original route and return to Bariloche.

At the end of the tour, return to the hotel.
