Itinerary

Day 1 (Sun) | Arrival in Madrid

Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Rest of the day free. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 2 (Mon) | Madrid

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, panoramic tour of the city; we will contemplate its medieval origins as an Arab fortress, visiting the Morería neighborhood, characterized by its ancient buildings and the flavors of its taverns; we will tour the courtly Madrid of the Habsburgs, characterized by Philip II and his Renaissance and Baroque buildings in the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza de la Villa; we will see the Madrid of the Bourbons and the urban layout of Charles III, the Royal Palace, the Cibeles and Neptune fountains, and the Puerta de Alcalá; We will admire 19th-century works such as the elegant Plaza de Oriente and the Prado Museum. We will discover contemporary Madrid with avenues such as Gran Vía, Paseo de la Castellana, Barrio de Salamanca, Parque del Oeste, the commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, and the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 3. (Tue) | Madrid – Salamanca – Porto

Departure for Salamanca. Free time in this university city, a World Heritage Site of great architectural and artistic wealth, and departure for the Portuguese border until reaching Porto.

Day 4. (Wed) | Porto

Breakfast at the hotel.

Panoramic tour of Porto, a World Heritage Site, where we will visit the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange building, and the Church of Santa Clara. Then, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River aboard a cruise ship and discover its historical heritage by visiting a well-known Port Wine Cellar, including wine tasting. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 5. (Thu) | Porto – Coimbra – Fátima

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure for Coimbra, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe and the birthplace of Fado. Free time. Continue to Fátima. Center of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Shrine with its impressive Basilica and Cova da Iria, where the Virgin Mary appeared.

The Chapel of the Apparitions, the heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. In the evening, there is the possibility of attending the candle procession.

Day 6. (Fri) | Fatima – Batalha – Nazaré – Alcobaça – Lisbon

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure for the Monastery of Batalha, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage Site. We will continue to the picturesque fishing village of Nazaré. Free time and continuation to Alcobaça, with its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, whose origins date back to the 12th century, and then Lisbon. Arrival in the Portuguese capital and accommodation.

Day 7. (Sat) | Lisbon

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, visit the city, formerly known as Olissipo, tour its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery (exterior), Monument to the Discoverers... Free afternoon to discover the nostalgic corners of this city, such as the Alfama district, or take the optional excursion to Sintra and Cascais (World Heritage Sites). Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 8. (Sun) | Lisbon – Mérida – Madrid

Departure for Mérida, a World Heritage Site. Mérida, the capital of Extremadura, is notable for its rich historical heritage, including its well-preserved Roman ruins: the theater, the amphitheater, the Roman bridge...

Free time and continuation to Madrid.
